POPULAR gospel acapella group, Shower Power, serenaded music fans with their powerful voices in a performance in Harare’s first street.
The group went through a repertoire of their spirit moving gospel music in a show that marked the weeklong Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA).
The five man band group sand their souls out to much appreciation from the approximately 200 people that gathered to watch the spectacle.
The HIFA street show opened with a performance by Zimbabwe College of Music’s brass brand. The programme also included spoken poetry performances by Elizabeth Muchemwa, Michael Mabwe, Shoes Lambada, Thando Sibanda and Mbizo Chirasha aka Black Poet.
HIFA Music Consultant, Melody Zambuko said that the aim of the street show was to promote an engagement between HIFA and the ordinary people in Harare who would otherwise never go to the festival venues.
“We’ve set up a first street platform through which we are trying to promote what happening inside HIFA to ordinary people in Harare. We’re trying to reach out to the public. We’ll do this every day of HIFA week, except on Sunday,” she said.
