About the African Poetry Chatroom

The African Poetry Chatroom is a brain child of an African poet who wishes to celebrate life through poetry and the use of words in uniting young poets from Africa.

Mbizo Chirasha is a poet, writer, perfomer, arts coordinator and creative director for festivals. He also does consultancy jobs on arts and writing.

The chatroom contest project will include workshops, seminars, competions, readings and information on media relations. The project was born out of the 2007 African Drums Poetry Festival, which saw poets from Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia come together.

This project will celebrate ourselves using poetry. Running from 2008 to 2015, it will involve a lot of activities in the near future while working with community based organizations, schools and others.
